Eight best places to visit in Krabi
Railey beaches and caves
One of the most popular beaches in the Krabi, which is located south of Ao Nang, can be accessed only by the boats. Its pristine beaches and crystal-clear water make it a popular holiday destination on the west coast. Holiday resorts along the beach side provide boards for surfing and kayaking. The cave, on the east side of the beach is well known for its stalactites and stalagmites, where fishermen offers prayers before going out to sea for there well being and success. The beach is well connected by long tail boats, the only mode of transportation to get to the beach, operates hourly.
The group of islands which are located five miles away from the Ao Nang are considered to be the best places for snorkelling, scuba diving, and board surfing. Tub islands is renowned for its shallow and crystal-clear water where even naïve swimmers can do snorkelling with ease. Island hopping can be done if you want to spend over night and need to carry the essentials. Booking can be done through your hotel or online, but contacting the operators directly can save your money. These islands are one of the best places to visit in Thailand.
This is an inland tourist attraction located in the south of Krabi engulfed by the thick verdant forest houses the hot springs with naturally scooped out bath tubs. The fresh running water fills the tubs up to the brim, comes from the volcanic chambers which maintains a temperature of 32 to 42 degrees centigrade around the year. It can get very busy in the winter season with hordes of tourists comforting themselves in the thermal springs. Recently the water from the springs has been diverted to the man-made bathing pools to curb the increasing demand.
Wat Tham Sua
Well-known as Krabi tiger cave temple, located five kilometres away from the city centre in the north east direction. To get to this historic site you need to hike up hill which lasts for an hour and its worth a sight for sore eyes viewing verdant tropical forests, limestone cliffs, and the stunning landscape in 360 degrees. The cave hosts beautiful statues and the point of interest for many visitors is the foot print of the Buddha. Wear modest clothes that suits you and the culture of the temple to avoid denying entry into the temple and the scorching heat of the sun. Don’t forget to carry some snacks and a water bottle as it helps you from dehydration and hunger.
Phi phi islands
Well known for its presence in most of the “Bond series” and an isle is named after as Bond island. These are group of islands which are dispersed sparsely and can be accessible only through boats. One of the best places for island hopping and can stay overnight in the resorts. Water sports like scuba diving, snorkelling and water bike can be done. These islands are not for a short break for someone looking for a busy life but I would certainly recommend this place if you want to relax in the middle of the stunning landscapes.
Klong thom hot springs
These hot springs are hollowed out natural bath tubs that are filled with fresh running mineral water up to the brim, temperature of water averages around 36°c, where one can soothe their body and soul. It is believed that these waters have medicinal values which can cure from skin allergies, rheumatism and sciatica. To curb the increasing demand some amount of water has been diverted to the man-made bath tubs and for sure you need to add this to your travel bucket list if you are planning for a holiday in Krabi.
Khao kanab nam
Well known for its limestone cliffs which are present on either side of the river, provides an entry point into the town through the water way. These cliffs can be hiked up by putting some efforts, which is worth for it. Better to sign up for a guided tour as it’s a chance to be shown up around and can take some nice photographs of the breath-taking views atop the cliff. In addition to this you can explore the near by mangrove forests and local Thai fishing villages where you can learn the fishing techniques and can go along with them for fishing. If you want to escape in to the woods, then this is the one of the best places to visit in Thailand.
If you like to avoid tourist traps and prefer going somewhere off the beaten tracks, then this is the one you are looking for. Less explored place with rich natural wonders such as pristine beaches, stunning landscapes, and coral reefs. Holiday resorts are booming along the coast in order to meet the expectations of the visitants. The remote location and balmy weather make it an ideal destination for the ones who want to get away from it all.
If you are planning to travel Krabi, better to travel in the peak season, as it has a fewer tourist density around the year and one of the best places to visit in Thailand next to Phuket and Koh Samui.
